a bye in week two.
As the sport continues to develop, the Guernsey Touch committee has
been looking at ways of improving the league and this season it has
invested in new technology which will allow players statistics to be
accumulated over the season. Aaron ‘Bones’ Le Masurier is leading after
week two with six tries scored, Stephanie Nicolle is second with five
tries and there are seven players who have scored four touchdowns.
‘This is Guernsey Touch’s fifth season and we’re looking forward to an extremely competitive summer of this increasingly popular sport. There are now nearly 300 players involved and having said good-bye last season to some fantastic players, it’s great to see that some new ones have arrived in the island and decided to get involved,’ said Guernsey Touch chair Katrina Bray.
‘The committee has worked extremely hard throughout the winter to add
something new to the sport and we hope that players will make good use
of the new technology. 2009 will be another great season, the league
is underway, the island squad is training hard ready for the Mainland
Cup in Germany in July and we have the Channel Islands Stock Exchange
Touch Club Championship this weekend.’
