Guernsey Touch Launches a New Website

New Website
In anticipation of 2008 being our biggest season yet, Guernsey Touch has launched a new website. The new website incorporates a number of new features including a new interactive calendar, photo gallery and improved online registration.
Calendar
The new calendar provides an interactive view of upcoming events in the 2008 Guernsey Touch calendar. The multicoloured calendar provides clear information on the Summer and Autumn Leagues, the Guernsey Touch Team, Refereeing Courses, Tournaments and miscellaneous events.
Photo Gallery
Our new photo gallery will enable users to register, upload and share photos with other members of Guernsey Touch. Visitors to the gallery may register to view and make comments on photos in the gallery or upload their own photos to share. If you find upon registration you are unable to upload photos, or wish to open a new album or sub-album please contact us on info@guernseytouch.org.gg.
Registration
Registration is now open for both the Ernst & Young Summer League and the Channel Island Club Championships and will close on 2 May 2008. To register for either the Summer League or the Channel Islands Club Champiosnhips please visit our website.
Guernsey Touch Island Team
Training for the Guernsey Touch Island Team kicks off this weekend (30 March) at Blanchelande Girls’ School. Training sessions will be held every Sunday from 3pm till 5pm.
Training will also increase to include Thursday nights from Thursday 1 May through until the Interinsulars on 9 August.
Training weekends will also be held on the following dates:
26 – 27 April
24 – 25 May
28 – 29 June
Guernsey Touch would like to extend an invitation to all players wishing to be considered for selection for both the European Championships in July and the Interinsulars in August. It is anticipated that a training squad will be selected following the training weekend in April from which the final teams will be chosen for each of the two tournaments in which Guernsey will be represented.
Tournaments
The Guernsey Touch Team will compete in two tournaments in 2008:
The European Championships in Massy, France over the weekend of 11 – 13 July (the squad will travel from Guernsey on the 10th returning on the 14th of July).
The Interinsular Series vs Jersey in Guernsey over the weekend of 9 August.
Channel Island Club Championships
This summer will see Guernsey Touch host the inaugural Channel Islands Club Championships. The tournament will be held over the weekend of 14 – 15 June and will include club sides from both Guernsey and Jersey alongside teams from Scotland, England and the continent.
The top Channel Island teams at the tournament will compete to determine the best Womens, Mens and Mixed sides in the Channel Islands.
FIT rules, fields and referees will apply. There will also be opportunities for referee coaching and Level 2 assessments. Registration fee: £20 per team plus £10 per player. Maximum 14 players per team.
Touch Ball
Guernsey Touch will also host a 'Touch Ball' over the weekend of the Channel Island Club Championships to raise funds for the 2008 European Championships. All players attending the Channel Islands Club Championships are welcome to attend the function, which will include a fantastic three-course buffet, band and raffle prizes. Tickets are £35 for Channel Island Club Championships registered players and £45 for non-players and can be booked at time of registering for the tournament or by contacting us in info@guernseytouch.org.gg.
Guernsey Super Touch Quiz – Round 2
Get a table of 6 together; decide a team name and register to compete in round 2 of the Guernsey Super Touch Quiz. The quiz will be held on Friday 25 April, Harry Bound Room at Les Cotils.
Cost is £8 per person (£48 per table). Email your team name to linderson@cwgsy.net to register.

Referee Training
Both Level 1 and Level 2 referee training sessions will be held in 2008. The Level 1 course will be held over the weekend of 26 – 27 April while the Level 2 course will be held over the weekend of 19 – 20 April.
