Autumn League Final Ends Fantastic 2007 Touch Season
Updated 23 October 2007
Brotown has won its third Touch Autumn League title in a row.
In a replay of the summer league Mixed A semi-final Brotown came up against Source Sorcerers but this time the result was reversed and ended in Brotown winning the final 4 - 1. Brotown took the trophy which was a fitting end to Nick Guy, one of their star players, who is heading back to Jersey and Source Sorcerers had to contend with their second runners-up place of 2007.
Newly formed team Mourant took third place after beating U Can’t Touch This.
Another departing player Andrew Campbell also saw his last game in Guernsey result in a trophy with The Ligers winning the Mixed B final with a 6 – 1 win over Tries R Us. Mercator Musketeers came third, Panthers were fourth, Deloitte and Touch in fifth and Specsavers Squirrels had to contend with sixth place.
In the Men’s final a hard-fought game between Isabels and Bobs Cycleworld ended with Isabels taking the trophy after an 8 – 5 victory. Leftovers came third after beating Tricky’s Tornadoes into the bottom spot.
The Women’s final was a repeat of the Summer League with A Women’s Touch and Touchy Feely wanting to win the title. Strength in numbers proved to be the winning formula for A Womens Touch who took the title and won the game 2 – 0.
‘It’s hard to believe that the third season of Guernsey is over but its proved to be our most successful year so far,’ said Guernsey Touch spokesman.
‘The Summer and Autumn Leagues have produced some thrilling games and some fantastic finals and our Guernsey squad have put in some great performances in France, Wales and Jersey. The focus now will turn to 2008 to make it even more successful and to go to the Euro Championships and demonstrate how much touch in Guernsey has developed.’
