ALL SET FOR CISX CHANNEL ISLANDS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

TEAMS from Guernsey, Jersey and the UK will take part in this weekend’s CISX Channel Islands Club Championship.

The two-day tournament, which is now in its third year, was established to give Guernsey teams the chance to compete against players from the UK and Europe and to encourage more people to visit the island.

‘The 2008 and 2009 tournaments were extremely successful so it’s fantastic that yet again we have non-local teams coming to the island. The 10 Guernsey teams taking part in the 2010 CISX Channel Islands Club Championship will be joined by a team from Jersey and a team from London which includes Ben Edmonds, one of our former committee members,’ said Guernsey Touch chairwoman Katrina Bray.

Teams will be divided into a mixed, men’s and ladies’ division and will play in a round robin competition over the two days culminating in finals. Games take place at the Garenne Stand and St Peter Port School.

‘We’re very grateful to Culture & Leisure and to the Guernsey Rugby Association, as well as our sponsor Channel Islands Stock Exchange, for their continuing support. It’s fantastic that we’re able to showcase touch at the island’s premier sporting venue and we hope that people will come down and enjoy the chance of seeing Guernsey teams taking on off-island competition,’ said Katrina.
